For months, when the project first started the only images we would see would be darkly lit images of a slender figure with a mullet. The music video for âThe Outfieldâ is the back of a guy wearing a red jacket walking through multiple crowds of people in different cities â revealing a slow motion turn at the very end, by which we never really see his face. At the time, no one knew that Martin was indeed The Night Game and that he had chosen to disregard his every accolade, a thing that most other people would never do. Rumor has it, Martin got his record deal by being contacted through DM on Instagram after Bill Burr heard âThe Outfieldâ at âItâs a School Nightâ (a popular showcase in Los Angeles) He signed without anyone putting together that he was âMartin-Johnson-former-frontman-of-Boys-Like-Girls-and-successful-writer/producer.â
Emo Nite started in Los Angeles, as an event started by three friends: Babs Szabo, T.J. Petracca and Morgan Freed at a small dive bar where they simply just âwanted to play their favorite music.â âWe honestly thought Emo Nite would be a one-time event at a small dive bar where 15 of our friends would show up,â Babs says. Little did they know, the event would morph into a huge monthly event, bringing together people who share the love of emo rock music from the 90's, 2000's, and today â changing the idea of what a music event can be. In itsâ original format, Imagine that downstairs (letâs say at The Echoplex in Los Angeles) youâve got some of the biggest names from the original emo-era like Mark Hoppus of Blink 182, DJing remixes of your favorite emo songs. Then, upstairs (possibly at The Echo) emerging bands like I DONâT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME are playing some of their first shows
Recently starting to explore the romantic 80âs blue-eyed pop we all knew from films by John Hughes, Jamieâs new song âWonât Let Goâ sounds as if Peter Gabriel and Bruce Springsteen mated and had a child with Phil Collins voice. Jamie says the inspiration for the song came after watching a film he hadnât seen in years, âI was re-watching a bunch of James Cameron movies one month and decided to give âTitanicâ a go after 10-15 years of not seeing it.
In 2016, Trevor âTroubleâ Andrew, or whom you may now know better as the artist called GucciGhost, collaborated with Gucciâs Alessandro Michele on their Fall runway collection. And since then, has built a steady repertoire of work not only as an artist and designer, but also musician. Recently, Andrew designed a special capsule collection for CitiCardâs Vault program â a cool platform for Citi members that gives special access to intimate concerts from performers like P!NK, Muse and Chris Stapleton. Music has always had a special place in Trevorâs heart, dating back to his days of snowboarding and skateboarding, âmusic has always brought inspiration for me. Like skateboarding [and] snowboarding â there was always a musical element to [them] and it really inspired me. Everybody's an artist and we just find our own way to be artists,â he says.
