SÉBASTIEN TELLIER AND SLATER STEP INTO A NEW ERA WITH THE CINEMATIC “THRILL OF THE NIGHT”

Sébastien Tellier returns with “Thrill of the Night,” a striking new single accompanied by a video that plunges viewers into wild adventure. Directed by Melchior Leroux, the video becomes the guiding focus of the release, unfolding in a neon-soaked world that blends the atmospheric grit of Blade Runner with the surreal tension of Dark City. The result is a cinematic setting that heightens the track’s themes of freedom, mystery, and nocturnal fantasy that drive the song.

The clip takes place within a fully constructed digital universe. Tellier, Slayyyter, and Nile Rodgers appear almost like phantoms moving through this dreamlike cityscape, a decision shaped by the need to film each performer separately on a green screen. Leroux turns this limitation into an advantage, crafting a collage-like narrative in post-production. The story follows a young woman navigating the maze of this imagined nightlife world, weaving a visual thread that links the three artists while drawing inspiration from 1980s slashers and cult films.

The song was created “with the desire to relive those club years: the dream of the night as one can imagine it, in its freedom and festive enthusiasm. Everything becomes possible; nothing is inconceivable,” Tellier said.

Musically, “Thrill of the Night” is an energetic fusion of electronic pop, disco, and the signature French touch elements that have long defined Tellier’s sound. The track highlights Slayyyter’s crisp vocal delivery and Nile Rodgers’ unmistakable guitar work, with production by Oscar Holter (The Weeknd) and Sébastien. It’s instantly memorable, propelled by synths and guitars that blend smoothly into its club-ready pulse. The video deepens this momentum by treating the night as a character of its own.

The release helps establish the tone of Tellier’s upcoming album, “Kiss the Beast,” out January 30 via Because Music, an ambitious project described as an extravagant love letter to pop. “Thrill of the Night” follows the more introspective “Naïf de Coeur” and offers a clearer glimpse into the album’s vibrant, dance-focused direction. The visual world created for this single expands the record’s broader universe and underscores Tellier’s continuing collaboration with Leroux, who previously directed “Fashion Designa” and “Naïf de Coeur.”

Along with the album announcement, Tellier is preparing to return to the stage in 2026 with a major tour across France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Several dates have already sold out, confirming the strong anticipation surrounding this new chapter.
