Belgian producer and DJ The Magician reconnects with Lykke Li on a luminous new remix of “Lucky Again,” marking a full-circle moment for two artists whose chemistry helped define an era of electronic music. While their iconic rework of “I Follow Rivers” became a global phenomenon—ultimately surpassing one billion streams—this latest collaboration arrives with a quieter confidence, trading instant euphoria for something richer, warmer, and more emotionally expansive.
“15 years ago, I made a remix that changed my life,” The Magician shared on Instagram. “Lykke Li and I had never met… The song traveled further than any of us could have imagined. And after all this time… I finally received my first message from Lykke.”
Rather than chasing today’s trend of accelerated club edits, The Magician leans into restraint. His remix preserves the emotional gravity of Lykke Li’s vocal while lifting the song with shimmering piano lines, hypnotic percussion, and spacious synth textures that gradually bloom across the track. The result is a melodic house anthem that feels equally suited for late-night dance floors and solitary headphone listens—proof that melancholy and movement can coexist without sacrificing either.
The release arrives during a prolific chapter for The Magician. Since co-founding Aeroplane before launching his solo project in 2010, the Belgian producer has crafted an unmistakable blend of feel-good house, nu-disco, and melodic electronic music through tracks like “Sunlight” with Years & Years, “Shy,” and “Love On You” with A-Trak. Beyond performances at Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Ibiza, he’s continued expanding his creative universe through his beloved Magic Tape mixtape series, his Potion Records imprint, and 2024’s collaborative album VOYAGE with celebrated pianist Sofiane Pamart.
The remix also serves as the opening chapter of a larger summer rollout celebrating Lykke Li’s The Afterparty, with forthcoming reinterpretations from Horse Meat Disco, Only Fire, Rebecca & Fiona, Killen, and more. It’s a fitting beginning—bringing together two artists whose first collaboration left an undeniable mark on modern dance music, and whose reunion proves their creative spark has only grown stronger.
