THE THEATRICAL MAGIC OF MARK CLENNON’S MUSIC

Born in Jamaica to a musically-inclined family, Mark Clennon was basically born for the arts. With a saxophone-playing dad from Trenchtown and a dancehall producer brother, music was in his blood. Growing up, Mark got involved in Jamaican Pantomimes, sparking his love for theatrical flair that’s now a big part of his ethos. At 15, he moved to Toronto, diving into the city’s buzzing R&B scene. Mark’s sound is a unique mix of big, bold vibes and down-to-earth feels. His music blends different genres to create something that’s both empowering and emotional. His voice, packed with honest and touching lyrics, soars over sweeping beats that captivate listeners. Mark’s talent for merging his Jamaican heritage with Toronto’s R&B scene gives his music a distinct, unforgettable edge.

We’re excited to debut his latest track and music video, ‘YOU,’ directed by Dmitry Lopatin. The video follows his groundbreaking song ‘Kingston,’ which made history as the first Jamaican video to show an onscreen romance between two men. This powerful visual not only highlights Mark’s artistic ability but also breaks major cultural barriers, spreading a message of love and acceptance. Given the current climate in Jamaica, Mark chose to keep the dancers’ identities anonymous to ensure their safety and protect them from societal repercussions. “YOU” serves as a powerful reflection on the progress achieved and the challenges that remain.
