The Wrong Ferarri, starring, directed and written by Adam Green is an awesome, terrifying, fascinating and witty experience all rolled into one. Definitely a memorable movie. Think Salò, Clueless, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in one tripped out feature. The invite only screening was held at the prestigious Anthology Film Archives and I’m sure this movie is the first Iphone film to grace it’s honorable screens. There were lots of laughs, Coors Lights, me and Amy clutching hands in fear during the K-hole moments and a very noticeable Har Mar Superstar and Macaulay Culkin sitting right behind us.
The movie was shot entirely using Green’s iPhone(3g and 4g) – is choppy and full of references to ketamine, turning 30, dysfunctional relationships, full frontal nudity, touring the world. There are also quotes like, “Bet you guys are excited about something dumb,” and, “That’s like the night your penis turned into the devil.” Macaulay Culkin gives a great performance and seems to be the chorus of the film. Other appearances are made by Devendra Banhart, Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) Dev Hynes (Lightspeed Champion), Har Mar Superstar, Jack Dishel (Only Son, Moldy Peaches), BP Fallon, Cory Kennedy, Aleksa Palladino (Exitmusic, Boardwalk Empire), members of the band Spacecamp, Adam Green’s mother, vocal work from Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) and more. If this is a film of our generation, it could actually be pretty accurate.
