Kabuki Love Makes a Raw Comeback with “Silver Eyes”

2025 is shaping up to be the year of major comebacks, and Brooklyn’s rising alternative rock band Kabuki Love is here to prove it with “Silver Eyes,” a raw and powerful track.

“I remember thinking about life, death, teenage dreams, and disillusionment when writing ‘Silver Eyes.’ I liked the song right away. We played it live with the band a few times and then put it aside. I actually wrote this one a while back. It was one of my earlier compositions on the guitar,” recalls Rima Naufal, Kabuki Love’s founder, guitarist, and lead vocalist.

For Naufal, the song came together organically—“simple but catchy and energetic,” in her own words. Though its release is fresh, “Silver Eyes” had already lived a secret life on stage during several live performances, waiting for the right moment to be recorded and shared.

Built on driving guitars and infused with the signature goth and punk flourishes that define Kabuki Love’s sound, the final cut of “Silver Eyes” lets the instruments do most of the talking. Naufal’s vocals take a backseat to the overwhelming force of the band’s sonic assault—one that stirs, moves, and connects without compromise.

Kabuki Love was born in 2020, during the heart of the pandemic, out of Rima Naufal’s passion for music and an urgent need to express herself. The band’s style fuses alternative rock with touches of goth, new wave, punk, post-punk, and grunge. That same year, they dropped their debut EP “Psychosomatic,” introducing themselves with tracks like “Useless Dreamland,” “Spitting Mirage,” and “Like a Weapon.”

For their small but loyal fanbase—many of whom discovered the band during lockdown—“Silver Eyes” rekindles the project’s original fire. It also reaffirms Kabuki Love’s central message: even from the fringes, there are still stories worth telling. And even from the shadows, you can carve out your own space to belong.
