Claire Rosinkranz is booked and busy. In between the chaos of rising fame and being on the road, the artist has found time to enter a new season of her creative and personal journey. Rosinkranz joins me from her beachside home in California, where it is already reaching summer-like temperatures.

“It’s already so hot here. I have yet to jump in the ocean, but I live right on the beach so it’s been very nice. I can go out and get a tan right now.”

She’s released her sophomore album, My Lover, which offers a vulnerable look at the pop star’s coming-of-age journey — learning to balance mind, body, and spirit with her artistic practice.

“Creating this album…I was still recovering from my health journey. I was in like the beginning of rediscovering myself.”

Fresh after opening for Maroon 5 at the end of 2025, Rosinkranz is hitting the ground running into 2026  joining Alex Warren on his European arena tour in April before launching her own headlining run and closing out the summer at Chicago’s Lollapalooza. “Backyard Boy” , the track that introduced her to the world in 2020 and has since surpassed 1 billion global streams. It feels like a lifetime ago for the now 22-year-old. The RIAA Platinum hit and MTV VMA winner for Best Breakthrough Song announced her as one to watch, but My Lover is the sound of an artist who has fully arrived.

When I ask her more about her creative inspirations during this season, she doesn’t disappoint.

“As of recently, I’m really wanting to tap into that Mamma Mia energy, especially living by the beach, going everywhere in my bathing suit and being barefoot, it just feels like that kind of music is the season of life that I’m in. My mom put out an idea of tapping into the Mamma Mia vibe for my next album.”

The environment is huge for Rosinkranz in her artistic process. My Lover was written and produced across years, coasts and countries, having spent time with collaborators including Oliver Frid, Eddie Benjamin and her father between California, New York and Sweden. “New York felt close and chaotic. Like if I go out on the fire escape, I see so many relationships and dynamics and friendships. I could just get a glimpse of something and write an entire song.” She shares about her temporary summer home from a few years ago.

“In California, I wrote a lot of music in the mountains and looking at the ocean. My Lover feels so open and spacious. It feels like California to me.”

The album arrives a few years after a health crisis Rosinkranz had at 19, which greatly impacted the way she approaches her relationship to her craft. “That was a very vulnerable time of life, but such a beautiful, intimate time to tap into.” she reveals about her journey of self discovery during this time. Songs off of the album like “Chronic” and “Bleeding Violet” offer a look into more emotional, existential themes. Alongside them are more playful bops spoken by a true lovergirl like “Dime” and “Dancer.” As a whole, the project holds the highs, lows and in-betweens of being a young woman today.

Her relationship to self care has evolved over the years as she gets to know what she needs to thrive on the road. She put her self-preservation practice to the test on her time opening for Maroon 5 on the Love Is Like Tour at the end of last year.  “I need things that are going to center me, so I meditate and pray a lot.” She shares about her routines. It’s also really important to rest and have people that genuinely care about you. I’m still figuring it out. And I think we all are.”

The Love Is Like Tour also gave Rosinkranz the opportunities to stretch her muscles as a performer.

“Performing in those arena rooms is such a good opportunity to learn how to command such a big audience, especially a room that isn’t your audience. I learned how to become very sensitive to what’s going on in the room. It feels kind of like solving a puzzle.”

Rosinkranz is sure to charm the likes of Alex Warren fans this April with her warm energy and relatable themes throughout her setlist of old and new anthems. With Lollapalooza down the pike, Rosinkranz reflects more on herself and her career when she first performed at the festival in 2022. I’ve just gone through more life.” she admits. “I feel like when you’re growing up in the industry, maturity and learning experiences are expedited. Now, I’m making music from a much more grounded and intentional place. I just grew up.”

In an industry that can so often prioritize output over the individual at work, Claire is proof of the magic of music from artists that lead with authenticity. As someone navigating my own journey of balancing a creative career with chronic illness, her story made me feel less alone in an ever-evolving entertainment landscape. I recommend a full listen of My Lover to any one of the girls holding multitudes, whether you’re lounging by the beach or on your morning commute through the city streets.
