Dash Shaw’s comics are a consuming world of their own. His wit and exquisite drawing skills will fill your head with some of the best stories around. His characters are funny, perverted, scary, emotional, tender, beautiful and real. If you haven’t seen/read, Body World, Bottomless Belly Button, The Mother’s Mouth,The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D., any of his shorts or Goddess Head, then you should. I have and they are great. There is a fine line between reality and fantasy in his work that keeps the reader in a perpetual purgatory state of emotion.
Quentin and I paid him a visit the other day to take a peek inside the mind of an artist, and it was fun. Did I mention that Dash is super cute? Not only is he a comic heartthrob, he is also a really nice guy and gave me the new MOME. Stay tuned for Dash’s new animated movie in the works, The Ruined Cast, that will ultimately be amazing.
