On Thursday night, VICE hosted “Full Upfront Frontal” for the launch of Vice.com, a long sought-after and costly URL that is the combination of their previous Viceland.com and VBS.tv domains. Once a porn site, Vice.com was finally claimed by the company, and they enlisted musicians such as Death From Above 1979, Hanni El Khatib, Rick Ross, Anamanaguchi, The Men, and Tanlines for a free concert with an open bar to commemorate the takeover. The beautiful Byzantine-Romanesque inspired Williamsburgh Savings Bank (where the Brooklyn Flea is held during the winter months) was filled with giant, glowing orbs, a slew of industry professionals looking like hipster royalty, a few lucky ticket winners, and notable attendees such as Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, Karen O, Ezra Koenig, and Nick Zinner (who DJ’d). Infamous for their events, VICE pulled it together yet again by providing enough booze to last guests from after work at 7:00 pm until they were popping balloons, dangling from ceiling polls, and orchestrating fake bank robberies inspired by the killer location at 3:00 am. As one guest said, “I think the whole world is having a shit ton of fun at this party.”
