“I HATE FUCKING MEXICANS” is okay because the play was written by a Mexican -none other than Luis Enrique Gutierrez Ortiz Monasterio- but that’s a really difficult name to even think about, so people call him LEGOM. LEGOM is the man, his plays are really controversial back in the homeland, but he has won all sorts of awards since the turn of the century, so obviously the right people are down with his work. This play will be the American debut of his work translated into English, Directed by Danya Taymor, who also translated it in collaboration with Debbie Saivetz and Ana Graham.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but the play is about dumb racist people, specifically americans, and it’s only “Off Off Broadway” because lets face it: theatre is expensive and mainly attracts conservative old white people, so you should go see it at the Flea Theatre for just a little bit more than the price of a movie ticket – until November 4th.
