Los Angeles-based producer LP Giobbi—real name Leah Chisholm—is one of the most spontaneous producers currently TK. Case in point? Her latest single, “Kupsa Kupsa,” was literally conceived during an Uber ride, during which LP and Parisian rapper H3RY LÜCK wrote the French lyrics for the song en route to the studio.
The thumping club track, which features lyrics that detail the recipe for creating the perfect song, is signature LP Giobbi: It’s unlike anything banging around dance floors today, conjuring the frantic, vodka-drenched spirit of late 2000s bloghaus with flourishes of disco and tropical beats. It’s pure fire; a sizzling frying pan popping and bursting with sonic flavor. Délicieux!
“I think the commonality in my tracks is a diversity of perspectives from my toplines. Hery was so unexpected, and he came in incredibly driven. French and Malagasy are is his first languages, and it was awesome to see him work so quickly and fiercely to throw down on this track. Even though I had no idea what he was saying, I could still feel that he was doing something very special,” LP shares of the banger.
“When I realized later, after getting the translation, that he was likening what we were doing in the studio to cooking, I was so impressed with his talent and how clever he is,” she continued. “It was further proof to me of how universal music is, because even though I couldn’t understand his language, I could still feel it.”
