Toronto-based indie songstress ARI straddles the barrier between light and dark with her music. Case in point? Her latest track: A melodic fusion of irreverent alt-pop, gritty electronica and emotive hip-hop, “Tunnel Vision,” premiering exclusively on LADYGUNN today, is a blaring, sonic middle-finger in cool, brooding electro-pop form. “Fuck you, fuck you,” she chants in succession on an almost emotionless chorus, punctuating the anthemic mission statement with her unfuckwithable rasp.
“‘Tunnel Vision’ is about letting go of unrequited love,” the singer-songwriter tells us. “Basically, if I’m not good enough for you, fuck you.”
The song is off ARI’s upcoming debut EP, Tunnel Vision, out June 17. Listen below:
