For a pessimist, the newly released music video for the Grimes track “Venus in Fleurs” initially seems like it might lead into something terrifying, involving a bird and a swamp. However, this footage shot in the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in British Columbia is alternatively beautiful. The only thing that becomes questionable about the video for this 2010 track is why it took until now for it to be released. The answer? “We were supposed to release it ages ago and somehow it didn’t happen probably because it didn’t comply with the press cycle at the time,” says Grimes via her Tumblr page. She adds, “since I’ve stopped caring about complying with press cycles I’m sharing this now.”
