While the pandemic has halted many aspects of daily life, it has not halted creativity. As our world continues to socially distance, it is paramount that we do not distance ourselves from new music – especially tracks that feature novel melodic ideas and burgeoning avenues of discovery.

In this Release Radar, Ladygunn explores two weeks of new music from artists of sundry genres and musical styles.

 

LEON BRIDGES And LUCKY DAYE – All About You

Leon Bridges and Lucky Daye team up for the first time ever to give us , “All About Us”, a  90’s inspired R & B ballad . The music video for this collab uses Stratastencil, a unique form of stop-motion, which requires 4,500 hand-cut paper frames in order to get the tunnel effect showcased in the video.

 

VICTORIA MONÉT- Touch Me Feat. Kehlani

Victoria Monet and Kehlani make for the a dream collab on this remix of  single “Touch Me”.  Their angelic voices blends together seemingly for this sensual R&B jam.

 

GIVEON – Stuck On You

Long Beach native Giveon, just released his second EP this year, “When It’s All Said And Done”. The EP consists of 4 tracks and “Stuck On You” takes the spot as the leading song.  Giveon’s unique baritone voice makes an already somber song like “Stuck on You”, even more emotionally driven and soulful.

ANDERSON PAAK – Jewelz

We can always count on Anderson Paak to bring us those funky and soulful jams to groove to. His newest single Jewelz stays true to this and gives us all the right amounts of neo-soul and psychedelic flare that we could ask for.  The corresponding music video is animated, colorful and exudes an overall feel good vibe – fitting perfectly with theme of the song.

 

KIIARA- Two Thumbs

Alt electronic-pop artist Kiiara made her start in the music scene in 2016 , when she released her single, “Gold”, which would lead her to gain a spot on the Billboard 100 and a debut performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Now in 2020, she has finally released her debut ablum lil Kiiwi, a mix of old and new material thought out the years.  A standout track for them album is “Two Thumbs”,  a electro-pop song with with subtle dancehall beats.

 

THE MEN I TRUST-Lucky Sue 

The Canadian dream-pop sensation that is The Men I Trust, has come back with another single , Lucky Sue, giving us all the lucid beats and dreamy vocals we could ask for.

 

SUNSET ROLLERCOASTER- Candlelight Feat. OHHYUK

Taiwanese indie band Sunset Rollercoster and Korean band OHHYUK collab for a new single Candlight.  The music video that goes along with this soulful somber song, showcases a traditional Korean funeral, including the mourning rituals and a processions.

 

MAJA KRISTINA – Imma Show U

22-year-old Swedish singer Maja Kristina recently released her  new single titled “Imma Show”, an infectious dance-pop bop that can more than likely fare well on any mainstream radio station.
