Petal Shop

The NYC subway can offer many rich musical experiences. Some completely annoying like this guy who has been singing Lean On Me off key for the past 5 years. One would think after years of practice he could at least sing it the proper key, or maybe even expand his repertoire. But no, crazy is as crazy does! However, I had an amazing musical experience today hopping off the subway making my way to the gym. I heard some pretty sweet sounds that you don’t typically hear in NYC. I loved this band some much I even gave them a buck or two. This is coming from a real jaded New Yorker. Yes, New Yorker I’ve been here for almost 8 years. I’m claiming this shit! Anyway, the band was Petal Shop. They are a group out of Detroit who have made their way to the New York Subway System. Petal Shop has a real folksy feel. There is a Bassist, a Fiddler, a Guitarist, and a really cute lead Vocalist on the Banjo. Hell, Yeah! Looking at these kids put me in a really good mood. I loved their tattered clothes, and most of all their sound that made me feel like I were in the back woods of West Virginia. So, if you are into a little Modern Blue Grass, or want to feel like you aren’t a crazy freak living in an sometimes overwhelming city checkout Petal Shop , (www.petalshopmusic.com).
