ISSUE Project Room
Housed in a former Brooklyn canning factory, ISSUE Project Room is the go-to space for experimental and avante-garde music. Staging nearly 150 shows a year, the almost decade old collective has featured acts from around the world, trying to bring awareness and prestige to lesser known musicians. Every year, they host the Darmstadt Institute where artists come together to record and the music is provided for download free-of-charge on ISSUEâs site. But if you want to catch a show in their Gowanus home, youâll have to act fast. Thanks to 20-year free lease from the city, in 2013 ISSUE will be moving from their current location to a renovated jewelbox theater in downtown Brooklyn. www.issueprojectroom.org – Daphne Muller
