Bebe Panthere is a champion, especially on her latest track, the Spaghetti-Western tinged electro-lite jam “Competition.” We asked the emerging Brooklyn-based babe to curate a playlist for us, which she did around the theme of competition and the different elements related to it, like getting pumped to face an opponent, reward, and perseverance.
She named it “Begin Sport!” because that is what the king says before a jousting match. Touché, Bebe!

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly – Ennio Morricone
“You don’t need lyrics to feel the epic vibes of a high noon duel with this song. It reaches such victorious heights, I can picture myself riding off into the sunset by the end. (P.S. My whip is a unicorn.)”
Mama Said Knock You Out – LL Cool J
“Here’s classic jam for when you are feeling braggadocious or want to remind yourself that you are superior to your opponent. I used to watch my big brother and his friends wyle out to this when I was a wee one. Ah, the memories!”
Bitter Rivals – Sleigh Bells
“The guitars are straight explosive and aggro, you are bound to get amped up to face your competition with this song. This secretly makes me want to do living room mosh.”
Teach Me How to Dougie – Cali Swag District

“When you play a sport, it’s important to stretch before you play. Warm up with a song that comes with a dance to get your mind and body prepared for your next match. I’m also originally from California so I find this one very appropriate.”
These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ – Nancy Sinatra
“One of my favorite pairs of shoes are my Stewart Weitzman 50/50 boots. Not only do they complement a lot of my wardrobe, they also make me feel like I have the armor to kick some booty day to day, figuratively of course!”
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Diana Ross
“When you are wobbling on the fence of success or failure, you might just need that angel on your shoulder to give you a little push and remind you that nothing can stand in the way of your goals.”
Trophies – Young Money ft. Drake
“While some successes are defined by physical objects, the more meaningful ones in life are just having the people that matter the most around you and having the ability to look out for them. Also, the horns in this song are just mad triumphant!”
Don’t Wait – Mapei
“Speaking of people, here’s a song that reminds me of how grateful I am for the amazing beautiful friends and family in my life. They are the ones on the sidelines cheering me on every day, and without them I really would be alone, LOL.”
Stronger – Britney Spears
“Conditioning drills, remember those? Your lungs burning from the pain of dashing from one end of the court to the other, over and over and over. In the end, it only makes you better, so persevere, you can do it.”
Bring the Noize – MIA
“High energy and frantic, this song has just the right elements to get you pumped up before diving into your next challenge. The horn stabs that come in on the chorus are the cherry on top, giving it an ominous, powerful feeling.”
