Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink are the subjects of the impeccable black and white portraits photographed by Hedi Slimane in a new campaign for Saint Laurent. Obviously it’s everywhere right now. It’s not so interesting to see  all of these names under the same brand and pretext and to see these “indie” personas wearing Saint Laurent garments, but the pictures are gorgeous and the clothes tailored to a certain perfection you can only get with major cash.
Saint Laurent is a French luxury brand that sells $2,500 pants, $6,000 dresses and $3,000 handbags and this campaign appears to be a retrospective back to the nineties, when Riot grrrls like Courtney Love wore 50 cent slips from thrift shops, and ripped up ballet flats. I wonder what the brand is trying to tell us if anything at all. I guess all we can assume is that Hedi was just having fun  being a super rich hipster with super rich hipster friends and likes music that I like.  Enjoy!
