I consider Sarah Jaffe a spoken word artist, expressing her every thought in her new song “Important” against a soft synth beat. The song comes on the heels of her brand new EP, SMUT. The songstress opens  the song by singing, “You don’t shock me/but you surprised me”. The EP deals with new found freedoms of living on her won and the independence that comes along with it. “A lot of times with writing, there will be this gestation period where certain lyrics/melodies live in my head for way too long before they make their way out. But “Important” attacked me outta nowhere,” says the singer. Jaffe also wrote a song off Eminem’s MMLP2. Check out the video for “Important” below directed by Dani Okon.
