The club is closing. The lights are coming on. Your friends are still dancing. For MkX, that’s the beginning of the music video.
On “MAKE U DANCE,” the LA-based queer pop artist turns the refusal to go home into a full-body proposition. Seductive melodies meet urgent electronic production, with MkX handling every beat himself. The track has the choreographed confidence of an early-2000s pop spectacle and enough late-night electricity to send it somewhere sweatier.
The video takes that feeling and runs with it. MkX and his crew party until the venue shuts down, then bring the celebration underground. Powerhouse dancers, boyband nods, and unapologetic queer expression give the visual its charge. There’s a little *NSYNC, a little Backstreet Boys, and plenty of MkX making the fantasy his own.
Its inspiration came from a night that outlasted its venue.
“I came up with the concept of this video after I went out for my friend’s birthday. Once the club closed for the night, no one was ready to go home. So we all went to the parking lot and made our own club. We blasted music and danced together, and it was honestly way more fun than the actual club. I wanted to recreate this moment in a cinematic way, and the director Andy Koeger really helped me execute this vision.”
That parking-lot freedom gives “MAKE U DANCE” its pulse. Anyone who’s lingered outside with friends while somebody searches for the next song knows the feeling: the official night is over, but the best part might still be ahead. Koeger and MkX turn that spontaneous moment into a pop production, keeping the shared joy at its center.
Co-written with Brandon Colbein and Myylo, the single lets MkX flex as both performer and producer. The hooks invite you in; the production keeps you moving. His affection for the boyband era comes through in the performance, while his own perspective shapes the party.
“MAKE U DANCE” understands the power of a good night out: finding your people, getting out of your head, and committing completely to the next song. When the doors close, MkX already knows where the afterparty is.
