In the landscape of menswear, the choice has long been a binary one: utilitarian boredom or theatrical costume. Underwear, the most intimate of foundations, has historically suffered most from this lack of imagination. Enter SAMMY, a brand bridging the gap between function and performance with a sophisticated, refined lens on the male form. It isn’t just about what is worn; it’s about a design philosophy rooted in “quiet confidence” and the unrestricted expression of the body.

The world of SAMMY is a collective architecture, shaped by the people who wear it and make it their own. It offers a space for men to experience a softer, sexier side of themselves without the weight of performance. “The desire to feel attractive is universal,” Clark Samuel founder and designer notes. “It does not belong to one gender, one sexuality, or one type of body.” While traditional menswear treats the body as a vessel for comfort or function, SAMMY is interested in the visceral emotional resonance of clothing.

This perspective was forged in the humidity of 90s Miami. Growing up, Clark  found a complicated relationship with clothing; fashion was a passion, yet the available options rarely offered comfort or confidence. It was a world of linear choices. When men’s underwear attempted to be sexy, it was often pushed into a niche corner, relegated to jokes or costumes. This void in the market became the catalyst for the brand’s creation. The goal was to find the elusive middle ground: underwear that is attractive without trying too hard, designed with an obsessive understanding of anatomy, the waist, the glutes, and the way fabric interacts with skin.

The result is a collection that favors “the soft kind” of sexy. It’s an aesthetic of effortlessness, providing the options that have been historically missing: the lower rise, the shorter short, the superior fabric. By approaching menswear with an unrestricted view, SAMMY explores the territories mainstream design is often afraid to touch. There is a sense that the most compelling designs are like forbidden fruit—sweet, alluring, and perhaps a little bit dangerous. There is a focus on beauty, shape, and proportion elements that the brand views not as gendered, but as fundamentally human.

“Queerness taught me that clothing does not have to prove masculinity,” Clark explains. “It can simply help someone feel closer to who they are.” This freedom informs every stitch, turning the act of dressing into a moment of joy rather than an adherence to invisible rules. It is about questioning the framework, challenging who decided that beauty had to look a certain way or that confidence had to be quiet.

Ultimately, SAMMY serves as a form of permission. It is a call to take up space and to stop settling for garments that flatten or hide the individual. The aim is a quiet, warm awareness, the feeling of catching oneself in the mirror and feeling fully present. In a world that often dismisses the desire to feel beautiful as vanity, SAMMY stands as a testament to the fact that feeling at home in your own body is one of the most courageous things a person can do. Every piece produced is a pursuit of that clarity, helping the wearer feel refined, elevated, and entirely like themselves.
