Scout Willis Explores Love’s Light and Shadow in “It Ain’t Nothing”

Born in Sun Valley, Idaho, and now based in Los Angeles, Scout Willis has a voice that merges the warmth of summer with the grit of city life. Her sound drifts between folk, blues, and pop, melding the honesty of Joni Mitchell, the raw edge of Cat Power, and the lush dreaminess of Florence or Kate Bush.

Recently, she’s been building remarkable momentum following a sold-out U.S. tour supporting Kingfishr, a standout LA benefit performance alongside St. Vincent and Hayley Williams, several Nashville gigs, the release of her September single “Blame Me,” and her signing with WME.

Scout adds a compelling new chapter to her catalog with “It Ain’t Nothing,” a song that’s lush, intimate, and powerful. Its melody instantly conjures the feeling of slow dancing with someone you love.

Co-written with Steph Jones (Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato) and produced by JT Daly (Benson Boone) and Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves), the track unfolds like a story, each line revealing a new layer of emotion.

The accompanying video plays like a short film. Directed by Lili Peper, it stars Scout and actor Thomas Doherty, both delivering mesmerizing performances. Visually, it mirrors the song’s emotional core, a fusion of noir and surreal dreamscape. Scout appears as an ethereal angel gliding through a grand, mysterious mansion, seen only by Doherty’s character, who becomes spellbound by her presence. Their story culminates in a hauntingly romantic encounter, as a prince finally reunites with his lost love, vowing to protect her.

“It Ain’t Nothing” emerges as one of the most compelling releases of the year. Scout Willis continues to prove herself as an artist who pours raw honesty and emotion into every note, her lyrics radiating authenticity and heart.
