Now debuting with her EP, “Long Time Coming,” Denver-based singer Sophie West embarks on a new chapter. Sophie blends elements of Americana, folk, and soul to craft a sound that’s entirely her own. The fusion results in a sound that feels lived-in and real, resonating with listeners on a personal level.
Sophie’s journey has been as wide-ranging as her sound. After years performing in Colorado’s live scene, she set off on a four-month solo road trip in her camper van that ultimately led her to Memphis. The move sparked three years of creative growth during the pandemic. While there, she collaborated with Keith Douglas of Tora Tora, co-writing and releasing two singles, including “Coming My Way,” which was re-released in 2024 on Douglas’s solo album “Remnants of Euphoria.”
Built on emotional honesty, “Long Time Coming” reflects Sophie’s evolution as both an artist and a person, learning to let go of the past, find grace, and reconnect with herself on the open road.
The EP opens with “Outrun My Mind,” a soft yet powerful track where Sophie’s commanding vocals soar over rich instrumentation. “I wrote all of these songs during a really chaotic time in my life, when everything was falling apart. I made the extreme decision to leave everything behind, live in my van, and just travel.
