Jackie Ormes was a pioneer of her time. She drew comics in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s and  from her beautiful art work, to her social calendar this woman was the epitome of style, grace, and awesome comics.  She drew such characters such as Torchy Brown, Candy, Patty-Jo, and Ginger who all super hip and very stylish. Her paper dolls no doubt inspired many designers of her day and the future.  Ormes broke down barriers and created new ideas with her drawings of coiffed black woman and enriching dialogue.  At a time where blacks were being used in the media as propaganda for a horrible objective Jackie created an alternative view of black women and their lifestyle.  Her involvement in politics later got her her investigated by the FBI.  Jackie was super hot.
