Inspired by films like, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and the repetitive delight of “Groundhog’s Day” we step into a real-life Bill Murray odyssey with Luke dozing off on a Quarantine afternoon for a mid-morning nap to a “Monster’s Attack” special on T.V.
What we begin to realize from the VHS-meta odyssey that follows is that our hero may not have been asleep (or awake) in the first place and that an After School Public Access, “Rashomon” inspired epic journey will follow, with monsters, Sasquatch, and a prehistoric Dino in an ultimate showdown taking place by a serene oceanic landscape.
All of this takes place within the scope of a dream, a nightmare if you will, of a day that ends up just like the last and might just be a little indicative of the dreams that may come.
The song, “Tell Me Not to Go” is a daydream amalgamation of hyperbolic pop of the 60’s (The Zombies, Byrds) mixed with the punk sensibilities of Luke’s teens (grunge and Dinosaur Jr seem to take momentary visits in and out of the field of sound) and the video, directed by Luke Rathborne himself with friend Teagan Wright in his hometown of coastal Maine, brings a glorious nostalgic counter-part to the song’s sunny but sad melodies.
