Tell us more about UNRULY. Did you have any muses for this EP?
UNRULY is my debut project, all songs written & co-produced by me. My muses are women who don’t abide. Women that have their own agenda. I’m here, we all are.
Who were your inspirations growing up?
My mom. She was always so free & independent. I really took notice of that. Music wise — I have a a few but Whitney Houston tops my list. Divine Talent.
How important are your Jamaican roots to your music?
My Jamaican roots shape my sound from the way I say things to my melodies so I would say it’s very important.
I love the song and concept behind “Prada Shoes”. When do you feel most empowered?
When I’m being unapologetically myself. Doing what I want, saying Being a girl in her own world!
What are some of your dream projects to work on?
Any project that brings music and another art form together is a dream for me.Whether it be a movie or clothing. A collaboration of the arts.
Who would you love to collaborate with musically or anything else?
This is tough! There’s so many. A few are Gold-link,Smino, Ravyn Lenae, PND, & Tyler the Creator. I love artists that have a distinct sound & they all have a really unique sound. I’d also love to collab with producer, Monte Booker.
What is something you want to explore?
I’m expressing my message through different channels. A message that speaks to me and others. I’ve always wanted to explore creative direction. I love watching a vision come to life.
