Brooklyn based singer Angelica Bess may be better known for her features on tracks with Chrome Sparks and Body Language, but her first official solo release cements her as an artist who is ready to fly. On her debut track Angelica and acclaimed producer Machinedrum teamed up equipped with with a decade long friendship and a notebook full of tunes. Some of what transpired was a dreamy joyride of a song that take you on an emotional rollercoaster. The lyrics are a lovelorn valley with music riffs that transport you to a cloud of ecstasy and hope.
Angelica says of the song, “‘Sail To The Sun’ is about sending yourself off to a place in comparison to the sun. It’s like a place or person so bright and beautiful but also so powerful that it can cause damage to your body. it’s almost like an addiction.”
Angelica’s soulful vocals pair perfectly with Machinedrum’s signature blend of neon synths, arpeggiated guitar work and broken jungle rhythms. It’s a beautiful addition to the start of the legacy of Machinedrum’s new label IAMSIAM.
